Loss of Internet Access on July 9th due to DNS virus (This is not a joke)

July 7, 2012

**This is specifically for Canadian and American internet users, anyone outside of us may ignore this notice**

I’m pretty dead serious about this situation here boys and girls and yeah, I was skeptical about this at first and thought it was a joke until I did some careful researching on Google with the help of mywot.com. I beg that all of you check your computers if it has been infected by a virus known as “DNSChanger.” This nasty little virus  is a trojan which basically attaches onto your DNS settings of your computer, making ads look real but they really aren’t, and they can steal your personal information (E.g. Your banking information, you really do not want that to happen) this way; Google the full description for it if you want.

Please read the CBC.ca article here and the discovery.com article here for the full details. To further back this up, the FBI has also mentioned this issue on their official site.

The CBC.ca article here (different from the above) explains how you can check for the virus (for both Windows and Apple users). It will then guide you to a site known as www.dns-ok.ca/ (Yes, it is completely safe to use) that will quickly scan through your computer to see if it is free of the virus itself. You may also check this manually through looking at your IP addresses through “Run” on your computer.

If you have been infected, please keep reading the CBC article mentioned in the above; it also mentions the steps for removal (the programs are safe).

Please spread the word out guys~
